As we continue our study of the connected class, we will see that there are four areas in which relationships can be formed. These include a friendship, a relationship, a couple's relationship, a friendship / marriage relationship, and a romantic relationship. The "hooking up process" will be an important factor in all of them.
The best relationships will require both people to actively participate. In fact, this is one of the major reasons why hooking up is so dangerous. The active participation helps people form stronger connections.
These strong connections are what make a relationship work. We may be in a relationship where we have several strong relationshipsStrong Relationships
, and one or two of them actually matter.The fact that we can have several relationships does not mean that we do not care about one of them. One of the key factors in creating a strong relationship is understanding your partner and being able to see the best things about your partner. If you want to see how you are helping your partner to grow as a person, then you need to be able to help them grow as a person. This means recognizing your own shortcomings. You cannot give your partner the benefit of knowing that you have some flaws just because you love them. You have to take responsibility for your own mistakes, and learn from them. You have to accept your own flaws and work on them.Finally, creating a great relationship involves helping your partner grow as a person and helping them grow as a person in your presence. This is a simple concept that many people take for granted. It does not happen if you are focusing on your own interests.
